So why a Chevy Express?

This just a random post during a period while relaxing at the local McDonalds…

So why did I buy a Chevy instead of a Ford van?  Our family is a GM family and that’s why I got the Express – comfort with the brand and familiarity with the controls, etc.  I did drive a Ford Econoline rental from U-haul and it was a nice machine.  I wanted to stay with Chevy (pronounced “Chivvy” around here, kind of like a Japanese car is a “Ty-ota”.  So, since my other car is a newer Impala, there was a desire to keep the two vehicles as Chevrolet.  There is also another reason though it is less important.

Also, I have to admit I’m a big lover of the old song “Chevy Van” by Sammy Johns…. Let’s remember the lyrics…

“Like a princess she was laying there, moonlight dancing off her hair.  She woke up and took me by the hand.  We made love in my Chevy Van and that’s all right with me. ”

Okay, he didn’t say, “I gave her the ‘ram’ in my Dodge Ram van” or “We fornicated in my Ford Econoline”… LOL.  Okay, that’s a little PG but you get my point.  That song was really cool!  I love the big bow tie… it will always be Chevys for me.

About VanTrekker

I am a former vandweller in Eastern Iowa who, for several years (off and on), lived in a 2007 Chevy cargo van. I still travel around Iowa with my tortoise shell cat, Jennifer Stefanie. Our favorite place to explore is the Country Heritage Community, the four far northeastern counties of Iowa (Clayton, Winneshiek, Allamakee, and Fayette). Ride along as we fish in pristine trout streams, enjoy fine home cooked camping meals, and meet new people. It's all possible on a shoestring budget. Happy travels always! --- Brad, the "Van Trekker"
