The Mc Office

This van project is time consuming and requires a lot of planning.  Since I am in the process of moving to my Dad’s for a home base, I don’t have a lot of room to spread out and do my typing and check email, surf for materials, etc.  The kitchen table is piled up and let’s just say the kitchen isn’t available for any constructive purposes right now… (too much stuff stored).

I live a few miles from a nice, convenient new McDonald’s.  It has modern furniture including some funky wing back chairs and round tables.  Free wifi is available with acceptable speed and reliability.  This is an awesome place to do some creative writing and to plan the next phases in the van conversion project.  I like to bring the portable computer for that reason.

My sister and brother-in-law, Dad, and Mom bought me this netbook for Christmas.  It is what I am using for planning the van project.  It’s going to be the primary computer when the high speed home connection gets retired in a couple of weeks.

McDonald’s doesn’t have a whole lot of healthy stuff on the menu, particularly for breakfast.  I  do like the Egg McMuffin.  It’s recommened as an acceptable choice for most diets.  Here’s an inside secret:  all of the McDonald’s encountered thus far will give you an extra slice of canadian bacon for free if you ask for it.  *smile*  This McDonald’s is a little further from home but it is a lower volume store and is usually pretty peaceful.  It’s a nice little retreat.

About VanTrekker

I am a former vandweller in Eastern Iowa who, for several years (off and on), lived in a 2007 Chevy cargo van. I still travel around Iowa with my tortoise shell cat, Jennifer Stefanie. Our favorite place to explore is the Country Heritage Community, the four far northeastern counties of Iowa (Clayton, Winneshiek, Allamakee, and Fayette). Ride along as we fish in pristine trout streams, enjoy fine home cooked camping meals, and meet new people. It's all possible on a shoestring budget. Happy travels always! --- Brad, the "Van Trekker"
