|Even baby Jesus slept outside when he had to!|
Welcome to all who read this message. I hope everyone has a wonderful Christmas holiday season. Please take some time with your friends and/ or family and consider the reason for the celebration on December 25th. It is about the birth of our Savior, Jesus, and not which big box retailer can offer the best deal.
|Sometimes those news cameras sneak up on ya!|
Dad and I have been visiting some of the holiday dinners in the area. Dad likes the chance to socialize and enjoy the tasty food. I agree – you cannot beat a great meal! The KFXA – Fox 28 news folks captured the picture above on Friday at the Salvation Army dinner on Friday. For anyone – including vandwellers and minimalists – you are made to feel welcome at such gatherings.
Saturday we went to the local youth center for another free holiday dinner. Dad even won a frozen turkey breast in a door prize drawing… It’s going with me on the next camping trip later this week! (The pendulum has swung back to the “I’d rather cook at home than eat out” way of thinking…)
It is going to be a busy week before the next excursion. I picked up a new gas station job and it’s keeping the time occupied – even on Christmas day.
If the work schedule holds, Thursday through Saturday of the coming week will be spent in the Dubuque, Iowa area on a “van trek”. A few days back that region received 14 inches of snow which means lots of winter fun! The plan is to go sledding, check out Anytime Fitness, and do some ice fishing for trout. There are new recipe ideas in the works, too. It is likely that pictures will be posted next weekend. In the meantime, it’s off to work for now.
Take care! I hope all are able to enjoy the next week with your loved ones and that any travel is safe.
Have a blessed Christmas and remember, no matter what your faith, Jesus is the reason for the Christmas season! Nothing can change that!
Take care. Kindest wishes always,
Bradford aka the Van Trekker
