Moving Day!!

Serena on the Linoleum

Serena loves the linoleum floor…

Hi and thanks for stopping by!  Tuesday was the day of the big move.  At first it seemed like there was a lot of stuff but considering that much of it was Dad’s and a handful of other deceased relatives’, it’s not so bad.  The possessions were occupying two of these small storage garages.

A good buddy had offered to help with the move but was Shedstricken with a serious illness.  That left me with a crew of three people to get the work done:  me, myself, and I!  That worked out fine.  By not paying a buddy to help it meant a nice meal out on the town without feeling guilty.

After arriving home with the Penske moving truck, it was tiring to unload the stuff – particularly the desk.  Thankfully, the town’s Baptist minister saw me struggling and called in reinforcements.  Within minutes there were three extra men and a woman on-site to help with the unloading!  What a blessing!

Trailer_With_VanThe van is home now and docked under the carport.  Yep, it fits!  But it’s missing something – the TV antenna.  I removed the aerial and put it on a pole behind the trailer and am now getting 31 stations inside the trailer!

In the coming weeks the van will be getting a good cleaning inside and out.  Serena is loving the new place and loves snoozing on the linoleum floor.  It won’t be long and Jesse James will be back.  He’s been missed!

Take care and thanks for stopping by.  Before long there will be some fishing time in pretty soon and, of course, there will be some cool pictures to share.

About VanTrekker

I am a former vandweller in Eastern Iowa who, for several years (off and on), lived in a 2007 Chevy cargo van. I still travel around Iowa with my tortoise shell cat, Jennifer Stefanie. Our favorite place to explore is the Country Heritage Community, the four far northeastern counties of Iowa (Clayton, Winneshiek, Allamakee, and Fayette). Ride along as we fish in pristine trout streams, enjoy fine home cooked camping meals, and meet new people. It's all possible on a shoestring budget. Happy travels always! --- Brad, the "Van Trekker"

Congratulations on your new home base! I’m glad you got some help moving in.
I just got my first camper van, and I am a year or two away from full-timing in it. I can’t wait! You and people like you have been an inspiration for me.

Thanks for the kind words. I just had the insurance agent walk in to take some pics and he loved the place… I told him I still rest better in Decorah next to a trout stream. You will enjoy full-timing it. I’ve got some health issues that have worsened and as much fun as it is on the road, it’s good to have a regular bed. I’m happy you got your camper van. Are you interested in being a guest author and posting some pics? Take care! — VT

I bet your happy to get that over with. How nice of the church people to come to your rescue.
Has Serena been running back and forth through the house? when we would come home for the summer trailer Fred would run from one end of the house to the other it was really funny. Yes I call it a house it feels more like home then to me.
    Enjoy your new House

      Hi Jo,

Yes, Serena gallops from one end to the other and sometimes in the middle of the night. I wish I could still run like that! I’m happy to see her safe and healthy. 🙂
