Today is the “midterm” election. Since we are not choosing a U.S. President, midterms are usually mundane, however this election is anything but. Control of the U.S. Senate hinges on 6 seats, one of them being from Iowa. Long time Iowa Senator Tom Harkin (sponsor of the Americans with Disabilities Act) is retiring and the fight for his seat is epic. The battle should be over soon… Then we’ll have a few days break before the feuding all starts all over again… Enough about politics though…
The original plan was to go fishing today but sadly, the only thing being cast is a voting ballot. I can’t recall very many times being too tired to fish or camp!
Monday I had stayed up late and put in some recliner time with the cats and a few skeins of yarn. Potholders / trivets were needed for the trailer so I thought this cute little fish pattern would fit the bill. The problem is now I don’t want to use them!
With the cold weather moving in, it’s back to working on home projects like this as well as putting in some extra hours at the job. There will always be other days to fish… It seems nice to have some balance and “down time” to work on other things. I suspect in the coming days there will also be more pictures of cool new potholders made. Too many hobbies… too little time!
Take care and thanks for stopping in today!

Oh I love those fish potholders. I crochet but I can’t make things like shapes. I make hats, scarves and blanket. Some of the scarves and corkscrews I guess you would call them..
I’m with you on all this voting junk enough. You can’t even seen cars coming at crossroads because of all the signs. And the bad mouthing really makes you just not want to vote for anyone. Well almost
Hi Jo!
Thanks for commenting! It’s so nice that all the commercials are over. The follow-up news coverage has been just as annoying.
I drove up north today to celebrate the birthday a little early. The 49th birthday is on Sunday (a day scheduled to work) so I’m going to do a little fishing (as always) and see what cool stuff there is to visit. Hopefully there will be pictures. It’s getting difficult to find two days off in a row to go camping! If I can get done fishing soon enough, there are a couple of museums to visit – all depending on which way I turn on Highway 76. Both are old, restored mansions. Have a great one!
Oh yes! More potholders! They are really lovely!!
Thanks! I’ll be making more!
