Monday was a dangerous time to be in the living room… The Syma X5C-1 drone arrived and I had been practicing by flying it inside. Jesse ran and hid. Serena didn’t get hit but she was accidentally dive bombed a few times. Her curiosity quickly changed to terror. After getting chopped in the hand by a spinning quadcopter blade, I can see her point!
Thankfully the tiny copter is durable. It’s been repeatedly ricocheting off the ceiling like an angry wasp. So far so good though… It’s fun to fly and should provide some awesome video later this week.
** UPDATE ** Today is Tuesday. Despite high winds, the little drone flew admirably outside. I’ve uploaded a short video of its maiden flight and crash across the street (into some weeds). No harm done. At one point in the video you will see where I cut the throttle after a gust of wind buffeted the little quadcopter.
It’s going to be fun taking this little beastie on the next outing…
With Christmas in two days, there is an opportunity to get some camping time in because McDonalds will be closed. (That almost never happens!) Depending on the camping destination, Serena might even go along this time. She’s getting “cabin fever” too. Jesse is content sleeping on the Christmas afghan. His yawn is confirmation.
It’s time gas up the van and get a few things in order for camping to occur. There’s never a dull moment. We’ll find some fun, maybe kill a fish or two, and cook up something tasty.
Have a terrific Christmas Eve and I hope everyone who celebrates has an enjoyable Christmas. Safe travels always!
Brad, Serena, and Jesse James
