Two Van Trekkers? They’re Not the Same Person

Apples and Oranges

Hello friends and welcome to the blog.  I have some bad news (and some great news) to pass along.  Apparently there is a new blog which sprang up very recently.  In its URL there is the same moniker as my blog.

There is no connection between that and this blog (I had been using “Van Trekker” for 5 years).

In the coming days I will likely be moving this blog.  I thank the kind readers for the 1.84 million hits and hope they will follow me to the new URL.  It is likely I will put a redirect on this page for the balance of the year.

Moments ago a generous donation was received via Paypal which will more than cover the costs of relocating the blog and changing my email address.  Thank you B.R . for the kindness.  It is good to know there are people like you in this quadrant of the galaxy.  🙂

Though it seems kind of cheesy, I’ll say this to the many vandwellers, camping enthusiasts, and technogeek pals in Star Trek terms…  “You have been, and ever shall be … my friends.”

God bless!

Brad, Jesse James, and Jennifer

About VanTrekker

I am a former vandweller in Eastern Iowa who, for several years (off and on), lived in a 2007 Chevy cargo van. I still travel around Iowa with my tortoise shell cat, Jennifer Stefanie. Our favorite place to explore is the Country Heritage Community, the four far northeastern counties of Iowa (Clayton, Winneshiek, Allamakee, and Fayette). Ride along as we fish in pristine trout streams, enjoy fine home cooked camping meals, and meet new people. It's all possible on a shoestring budget. Happy travels always! --- Brad, the "Van Trekker"

That’s really disappointing to discover I’m sure. I hope that you can perhaps change your blog name and continue on with your many followers. You’ve done a great job of encouraging folks with your information and positive attitude, and if someone has accidentially or purposefully hijacked your moniker it’s probably just best to leave them in the dust to find their own way. My interest is in continuing to hear from you regularly.

I have sent Brad an email suggesting he help me come up with some quality name suggestions so that I can change my name and he can continue to use his name on this site without problems between us. The names should be immediately available with social media and google so that I can change right away and continue my work while Brad does the same with his work. What do you say Brad?

    • VanTrekker says:

Thank you for the note. I responded to the email and appreciate the sincere desire to resolve the situation. They say “Great minds think alike” and it’s not surprising that “van” (which is hardly unique) and our hobby of exploring “trekking” came to mind. (I used “trekker” because of a deep love for Star Trek”)

I think you win! You’ve used the name for 5 years. You like StarTrek, You win.

Hi Bob. I’ve been trying to get to sleep. I’ve been “VT” for so long that it’s difficult to think about moving… and changing nicknames. I know a lot of the regular visitors will follow along. I’m looking at buying second domain name, moving everything over, and then leaving a re-direct to the new address. That wouldn’t be too painful (well, for readers). Now it’s looking at the IT stuff to make it happen.

I came to your blog because I enjoyed your posts on CRVL. I’ll follow you to the new site, but you’ll always be the only VT that I know!

Thank you! I am going to come back to CRVL as soon as I figure out how to change user names. Thanks so much for coming to the new site. It means a lot to me that the friends are checking out the new page. This whole thing was quite upsetting (and still is as I see merchandise for sale with the moniker I’ve been using for 5 years)
