Hello and welcome to the blog! Happy Halloween tomorrow. I will be out of town for Halloween (fishing of course) and the van will be safely tucked at home. There is no need to scare anyone.
Nevertheless…. With encouragement from the teenagers at work, I made a really strange 19 second long, white van video… It’s got about everything creepy one can imagine and is only meant as a joke. For those of us who like scary clown movies like “IT” this might be entertaining. Please CLICK HERE to see the video.
Okay, that’s the end of the bizarre stuff. A few Facebook friends got upset with me about the dreadful video but they also like horror movies for whatever that’s worth. I’ll probably take the video clip down closer to Thanksgiving. 🙂
No camping is happening this week but there are projects in the works. I stayed up late on Sunday night to make this new hat for fishing. The yarn was leftover odds ‘n’ ends. The orange is intended to be bright (so I don’t get shot by deer hunters) and the camo for the outdoorsy look. The camouflage yarn was extra from the afghan project. (The blanket squares have all been made and they need sewed together in the coming days.)
Sis liked the hat so much she asked for a white with camouflage cap for Christmas. My brother-in-law wants a solid camo one. That’s the risk of sharing pictures! 🙂 🙂
The rest of Monday is being spent making some mini loaves of bread for camping. A month or so ago buddy Steve and I picked a bunch of hickory nuts. Saturday night they were being shucked and cracked while watching Star Trek and Battlestar Galactica. Here are the nuts and the final product…. “Cranberry Pumpkin Nut Bread”.
The bread turned out great. The batch made 10 mini loaves. Some of it is going along as buddy Steve and I hit the trout streams on Tuesday. The rest is frozen for winter enjoyment. Though this is slightly different, I’ve been making a similar recipe since the early 1990s. It is a seasonal favorite.
As far as camping goes, I do plan to visit buddy Johnnie and camp along the Mississippi sometime later in November… after the birthday on the 9th. For now, it’s time to get packed up to go fishing early in the morning.
Take care and thanks for visiting! Safe and happy travels!
