Hello and welcome to the blog this day after Christmas. Last night was our annual Christmas party at work. Everyone seemed to enjoy him/herself and the food was great. There were many awesome presents exchanged.
The boss provided a big ham. Savannah made green bean casserole. I made a huge batch of party potatoes (hash browns, sour cream, cheeses, half ‘n’ half, onions and garlic, French Fried onions, and spices). There were many desserts. The boss let me bake up some breakfast biscuits, too. We ate well!
After the food we had a secret Santa gift exchange. My recipient was one of the favorite people – Tabi. She got a nice blender. Cory, the youngest member of the crew (14) bought me some Powerbait for trout fishing. Tabi bought me a new river fishing pole (which was definitely needed!) and will be used!
We also had a “White Elephant”, a separate event where one-by-one, each person takes a new present (unwraps it) or steals one from a peer… this goes on until everyone has a gift or his/hers is replaced after being taken!
I came home with some treasures. The camping silverware came from the White Elephant event. I stole them from Cory (the kid who gave me trout bait) after someone commandeered my set of superhero miniatures. The titanium fillet knife, fish cleaning sheers, and cat toys were a gift from G.M. Trask. I’d given him a gift card from the farm store (for Trask and Koshmarik). The lantern was purchased a few days ago after a kind older couple (who I’d made friends with at work) surprised me with a Christmas card and Walmart gift card.
We had a terrific time last night. Like any work environment there are frictions that occur day to day but that was all left outside for the evening. For one day we all enjoyed each other’s company, ate like horses, and everyone got along. Too bad Christmas isn’t every day!
With that it’s time to get this posted and head back home. I’ve got one more day off and people are starting to call in sick…. “Beam me up, Scotty!”
I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas! We did get about 1.5 inches of snow with a couple more on the way later this week. There will be pictures!
Take care and safe travels as we approach New Year’s Eve.
